With summer right around the corner, people ought to start changing their clocks to Island Time. At least that’s what the guys of Jamtown are insisting with their new single, appropriately titled “Island Time.”
The breezy, harmonica-assisted summer tune is as fun as its lyrics, bringing all the beach vibes necessary with acoustic guitars and a sway-along melody. And while Jamtown may not ring a bell, don’t let the not-so-familiar name fool you — the trio consists of Cisco Adler, G. Love and Donavon Frankenreiter, all of whom have previously brought good vibes with past solo endeavors.
The three musicians came together in Malibu in December 2016, releasing their first single “Fool in Love” a couple weeks ago and following it up with “Island Time.” The group plans to release their debut EP on June 23.
Adler explained to Billboard how their feel-good second release came together. “This song started as a riff on an old rattly dobro. It has a sort of Stonesy harmony thing going on the hook, and a jangly groove that makes you want to stomp your feet. ‘Island Time’ is about checking out and letting the groove take you where you need to go… Island Time!”
Listen to the mellow new jam below, and try to resist the temptation to set your clocks accordingly.
