Hours after Halsey posted an urgent plea for patience and understanding for those suffering during bipolar disorder episodes, Jamie Lynn Spears amplified the “Without Me” singer’s message in her own urgent tweet pleading for compassion.
In an Instagram post in which she re-posted one of Halsey’s tweets and quoted her suggestion that “if you can’t offer understanding or sympathy, offer your silence,” Spears added her own thoughts.
“If you deal with mental illness or care for someone dealing with mental illness, then you know how important it is to respect the situation with privacy for the person, and the family trying to protect their loved ones, no matter how it may appear to the public, and as the public we must learn to do the same,” wrote Spears, 29, who did not elaborate on who she was referring to.
“I pray this doesn’t bring shame to anyone dealing with mental illness, you are not alone, and you are loved. Sending all my love and prayers to all of you♥️.”
Neither Halsey nor Spears explained what inspired their posts, though Halsey has been open about her long struggles with bipolar disorder in an effort to help de-stigmatize the mood disorder that typically manifests in two phases: a low phase (depression) and the manic phase (high energy).
