The family has not provided any update on Maddie’s injuries or expected recovery time. But in an Instagram pic posted Friday (Feb. 10) featuring a shot of a medical transport chopper, Spears’ husband, Jamie Watson, wrote, “Thanks to the amazing first responders, and medical teams at University and Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, LA, we are headed home with our baby girl as she continued to recover.”
Watson, Aldridge’s stepdad, did not provide any additional details about what’s next for his stepdaughter, who is seen in the photo smiling from inside the helicopter next to her mom, Jamie Lynn, 25, who also has a big smile on her face.

Thanks to the amazing first responders, and medical teams at University and Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, LA, we are headed home with our baby girl as she continues to recover. Above all else we are so thankful for each and every prayer, because we know that is what truly made the difference. Thank you again to everyone. We are truly blessed–
“Maddie Aldridge, 8-year-old daughter of entertainer Jamie Lynn Spears, has been discharged from Children’s Hospital in New Orleans,” the hospital told People magazine through a Spears family spokesperson. “She is breathing well and interacting with loved ones. Doctors say she is on the way to a full recovery.” The statement reported that Aldridge accidentally drove the ATV into a pond on a relative’s property in Kentwood, Louisiana, and was trapped underwater as a result.
Jamie Lynn’s older sister, Britney Spears, also gave thanks for the good news, tweeting, “It’s truly a miracle.”

Maddie was hospitalized in critical but stable condition last Sunday following an accident on her family’s property in Louisiana when she was reportedly trapped underwater in a pond while strapped into an ATV. Jamie Lynn and Watson were reportedly watching when the accident occurred. According to a statement from the family, Aldridge regained consciousness on Tuesday and doctors took her off a ventilator, believing that she had not suffered any neurological consequences as a result of the accident.
Britney posted about the good news Wednesday, thanking supporters for their kind wishes.
