James Blake kicked off his Solo Piano mini-tour on Tuesday (Dec. 10) by delivering an ethereal cover of Billie Eilish‘s “When the Party’s Over” during an intimate set at L.A.’s Theater at the Ace Hotel.
“I’ve learned to lose you, can’t afford to/ Tore my shirt to stop you bleedin’/ But nothin’ ever stops you leavin’/ Quiet when I’m coming home and I’m on my own,” the British singer-songwriter crooned from behind a piano, his dreamy falsetto filling the darkness of the starkly-lit stage.
Following his two shows in Los Angeles earlier this week, Blake is set to conclude his four-date Solo Piano jaunt with back-to-back nights at New York City’s Harvey Theatre on Dec. 17 and 18. The singer’s latest LP, 2019’s Assume Form, is currently in the running for best alternative music album at the upcoming 2020 Grammy Awards.
