Throughout Taylor Swift‘s chart-topping career, it’s no secret the country-turned-pop darling hasn’t any hesitation in mining her past relationships for gold. But we don’t always get to hear what her exes have to say about that.
On Sunday Swift’s most notable former boyfriend — at least of late — Harry Styles of One Direction, did get this chance to respond and let’s just say he was very diplomatic about it all. The words “rational” and “classy” might even be appropriate.
During a Google Hangout with fans, director buddy Ben Winston (who produced last year’s One Direction: This Is Us) asked Styles what it’s like to be the subject of popular songs. Styles responded, “We write from personal experience, and I think everyone does, so it would be hypocritical of us to be like, ‘Oh you can’t write about us,’ And she’s really good, so they’re good songs. So I’m really lucky in that sense.”
