Grace VanderWaal was back where it all began on Wednesday night (Aug. 16), performing her latest single on the big stage at America’s Got Talent to the delight of the judges and studio audience. The 13-year-old singer — who won AGT last season by capturing the nation’s hearts with her precocious original songs and ukulele strumming — performed the sunny “Moonlight” alone on a set highlighted by a giant moon and a fog-shrouded forest.
It was just the like the old days, with judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Mel B and Heidi Klum greeting VanderWaal with a standing ovation at the end. “It’s great to be here,” said the scratchy-voiced tween, who is about to embark on her first national tour, which kicks off on Nov. 5 with a sold-out show at the Troubadour in Los Angeles.
