One week after Chvrches put their indie-rock spin on Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?,” another world-beating alternative group, Florence + The Machine, has lovingly covered a 2015 hit from the Biebs.
Like Chvrches’ “What Do You Mean?” take, Florence Welch and co. covered Skrillex and Diplo’s “Where Are U Now” (featuring Bieber) for BBC, this time for a Radio 1 Live Lounge session. And like last week’s cover, Florence + The Machine absorb the emotional core of Bieber’s hit, as the singer captures the inner hurt and vulnerability of “Where Are U Now.”
Skip to 23:20 to hear the cover, and listen to the full performance to hear Florence + The Machine perform tracks from this year’s How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. Bieber, of course, returns with a new album this November.
