Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit took time to pay tribute to one of their nation’s most beloved pop superstars this week, performing a loving acoustic cover of Roxette‘s “It Must Have Been Love” with fellow Swedish singer Maja Francis during a visit to Swedish radio station Musikhjälpe on Wednesday (Dec. 11).
The thoughtful take on the 1986 ballad came just a day after Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson died at age 61 following a 17-year battle with brain cancer.
“Tonight we performed #itmusthavebeenlove by @TheRealRoxette at @musikhjalpen in honor of Marie Fredriksson,” the pair tweeted. “We wanted to perform this song as a tribute to her and her magic. Tack för allt [thanks for all] Marie.”
