Fickle Friends, the Brighton indie-pop group that sent the U.K. blogs into overdrive with their first few singles last year, has a great new song that Billboard.com is happy to exclusively unveil. Check out the premiere of “Could Be Wrong,” from the group’s forthcoming debut EP, Velvet, below:
Singer Natassja Shiner once again stands out on “Could Be Wrong,” which follows the November single “For You” as well as the radiant debut single “Swim.” Last year, Fickle Friends beguiled pop fans at festivals like the Great Escape and Berlin Music Festival, and hopes to find a larger stateside audience with the Velvet EP, due out on May 25.

“We wrote ‘Could Be Wrong’ last summer after the buzz of festival season, and it just felt like the obvious choice for a follow up to ‘For You,'” says Shiner. “The EP is completely self-produced, which was a great learning curve for us. We’ve been really meticulous with these songs. We’ve really taken our time with the intricacies of the melody and the placing of synths. We just hope that our fans love the songs and that people can see the progression in our writing.”
Fickle Friends will celebrate the release of the Velvet EP, which pairs “Could Be Wrong” with three other new tracks, with an eight-show U.K. tour this spring, kicking off in Birmingham on the date of the EP release. The EP, which was produced by Fickle Friends and Jon Gilmore, will be released through Killing Moon Records in the U.K. and Blah Blah Blah Science Records in the States.
