This week’s new music brought comfort and soothing vibes for listeners, from Demi Lovato and Marshmello‘s “OK Not To Be OK” ode to mental health to Usher‘s classic R&B song “Bad Habits.”
“OK Not To Be OK” dropped on Thursday (Sept. 10), otherwise known as World Suicide Prevention Month. As September is National Suicide Prevention Month, the pop star and DJ’s joint jam doesn’t attempt to just smooth over one’s trials and tribulations but openly acknowledges them and turns the right words one needs to hear into a reason to dance.
Usher’s ’90s-style hypnotic slinky beats on “Bad Habits” transcends time with his second release of 2020, following his racial justice anthem “I Cry.” While the crooner wishes he could love better on the song, David Guetta and Sia‘s primary instruction and title of their ’80s-style earworm — “Let’s Love” — combines the nurturing tone of “OK Not To Be OK” with the sheer will to love and the vintage sonic hallmark of “Bad Habits.”
