The music industry has been giving us Christmas albums for decades, and some of them have withstood the test of time. How can you not feel warm and fuzzy inside hearing “Christmas Time Is Here” off the classic Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack? Or the Ronettes and the Crystals‘ gems on Phil Spector’s A Christmas Gift For You? And wouldn’t you know, the tradition of taking time out for a Christmas record hasn’t been lost on the 21st century. Artists like Kelly Clarkson and Michael Bublé got in the spirit well into their successful discographies, and even younger stars have defied the old notion that making a Christmas album is a sign your career is flagging. This decade, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande have pretty much put that idea to rest.
