UPDATE: After we posted this article, Father John Misty posted a cover of “Welcome to New York” to SoundCloud. Listen below “Blank Space.”
Father John Misty is really feeling this new 1989 album from Ryan Adams. So much so that he posted his own version of Adams’ “Blank Space” to SoundCloud on Monday (Sept. 21).
“My reinterpretation of the classic Ryan Adams album 1989,” the caption reads.

OK, obviously “Blank Space” is a Taylor Swift song, but Misty is having a lot of fun with this, doing his best Lou Reed impression for the very Velvet Underground version. Misty even nodded to the group with the banana single art (below), which uses Andy Warhol’s banana from the Velvet Underground & Nico album cover.
