Emily Weisband has been behind the scenes in the writing room for years, penning songs for Camila Cabello (“Consequences”), Keith Urban (“Same Heart”), Hilary Scott & The Scott Family (“Thy Will”) and Danielle Bradbery (“Human Diary”), among others. Now, the Nashville based singer/songwriter has announced her solo career with the deeply personal debut single “Identity Crisis,” out today (June 21).
On the stripped down “Identity Crisis,” Weisband’s confessional lyrics and captivating vocals are complimented by stark pop production. The introspective track has Weisband detailing the many different sides of her personality. The song’s storyline came to her during a conversation with her therapist.
“I was telling her, ‘Man, I feel like I have to be so many different people for so many different people,’” Weisband said in a statement. “I go to my church and I’m the overly sexual hot girl. I go to the bar and I’m the overly spiritual girl. They all feel like me but none of them are me.’”

She added: “So she says, ‘Listen. Emily is a conference table. Sitting here right now is sexual Emily and spiritual Emily, confident Emily and scared Emily. All of these Emilies are here. They’re all you. You were made to be all these things. But you’ll be living your most authentic life when you realize that in every place you go and to every person you talk to, you get to decide who heads the meeting.’”
At 26, Weisband is already a Grammy-winning songwriter for co-writing “Thy Will.” Additional writing credits span multiple genres including the pop world with BTS and Halsey, the country genre with cuts from Dan + Shay, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, as well as Christian music with recordings by Natalie Grant and Danny Gokey.
