Ed Sheeran will never forget where he came from. The singer who rose to global stardom from Suffolk, England, will get a heroes welcome this summer when an exhibit celebrating his pre-fame days will open at the Christchurch Mansion in his family’s hometown.
“Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk” is slated to open on Aug. 20 and run for nine months. The exhibit, curated by the singer’s dad, will feature portraits, photos and other memorabilia from Sheeran’s early performing days thanks to items donated by the “I Don’t Care” star and tributes from local artists.
“I’m doing my homecoming shows end of August in Ipswich, the first proper headline shows I’ve ever done in my home town,” Sheeran wrote on Instagram on Friday morning (June 7). “My dad has unearthed a load of photos from my early days, I’ve lent a load of stuff too, for an exhibition that will run for 9 months at Ipswich’s Christchurch Mansion from August 20 – until spring 2020. Go and see it. Lots of love.”
Sheeran has a quartet of home coming shows slated for Chantry Park in Ipswich from Aug. 23-26. “The choice of Ipswich shows just how important his Suffolk roots are to him,” father John Sheeran said, according to BBC News. “Ed has a deep affection for the landscape and its people. This exhibition reflects that – its title is Made in Suffolk, which he was.”
