Ed Sheeran played three sold-out gigs at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne over the weekend, but on Sunday night (March 11) he popped into the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards to accept his song of the year win for 2017 smash “Shape of You” by playing second Divide Hot 100-topper, “Perfect” in an unusual space.
According to Australia’s Nine News, Sheeran surprised fans by announcing a “secret performance” in the city’s iconic Hosier Lane, an alley splashed with colorful graffiti. Thousands of Sheerios packed the alley for the gig after receiving an email a few hours before that included a warning that no photos (or vaping) were allowed.
