While Dua Lipa is spending quarantine in England, her home country, she is still very much involved in United States politics, chatting with Senator Bernie Sanders or encouraging her fans to hit the polls in one of the most crucial presidential elections in history.
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the pop singer discussed why she is so invested in American politics despite her British descent. “To be really honest, you know, we’re all living in one world and the world is just getting smaller and smaller,” she shared.
“When you think about it, the responses in the US to climate change, to refugees, to the pandemic affect the whole world,” she continued. “I think it’s really important to understand that we’re all going through this together. We all want to see change, we all want to see equality and I really believe that voting is so incredibly important. The young generation needs to get out and vote and we need to make sure our voices are heard, and I know it’s not the be-all and end-all of seeing change, but I think it’s incredibly, incredibly important. That’s something that I champion a lot.”
As of Thursday (Nov. 5), the presidential race has dragged onto a third day, as the tabulating of the votes in Tuesday’s election continues and the tight race between incumbent Donald Trump and challenger Joe Biden hanging in limbo.
There are six states (and 60 electoral votes) still up for grabs, including Nevada, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina and Alaska.
