It’s only just the beginning of summer, but DJ Khaled’s “I’m the One” is already proving to be one of the hottest tracks of the season, and has been killing the Billboard Hot 100. In an interview with Billboard, our recent cover star revealed how he pulled together the song’s stacked lineup, featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne.
DJ Khaled explained that when he has a vision, he is determined to make it happen, which for “I’m the One” meant hitting up some of the biggest names in music. After playing Bieber the track in his truck, watching Quavo and Chance vibe out to the production, and reaching out to his frequent collaborator Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled said he was able to see the song come together — and the group convened in the studio where Michael Jackson recorded one of his biggest hits to create their next one.
