Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez warmed the hearts of their fans on Monday night when they posed for their first photo together in two years at the InStyle Awards.
For the uninitiated: Lovato and Gomez were childhood best friends and co-stars (leading fans to coin the nickname “Delena”), appearing on Barney & Friends as kids and the Disney Channel movie Princess Protection Program in 2009. But the two drifted apart over the years, with Lovato going so far as to unfollow Gomez on Twitter in 2014 — the ultimate severance for celebrities of their stature.

Gomez recently extended an olive branch, however, following Lovato on Instagram and sharing words of encouragement after Lovato released her new documentary, Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated. The social media rekindling and recent photo predictably whipped fans into a frenzy, and they expressed their excitement on Twitter.
