Demi Lovato has given the strongest hint yet that she’s bisexual.
British talk show host Alan Carr put the pop singer on the spot and encouraged her to confess all in a candid interview for his Chatty Man show. Their exchange certainly set tongues wagging.
Demi Lovato’s ‘Cool for the Summer’ Is Fastest No. 1 on Dance Club Songs in Two Years
In a recently broadcast episode, the camp funnyman quoted lyrics from Lovato’s provocative hit “Cool for the Summer,” which includes the line “Got a taste for the cherry, I just need to take a bite.” Carr, who is openly gay, suggested the hit had a “sinister message”. “Now, I put it to you, Ms. Lovato, that that song’s about lesbianism. Cue hollers from the audience. “Can you confirm or deny this accusation that it’s about lesbianism?”
Lovato responded, “I’m not confirming and I’m definitely not denying.” Cue more hollering. She then continued, “All my songs are based off of personal experiences. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with experimentation at all.”
The fast-on-his feet Carr quipped: “The trouble is, I experimented once and it stuck.” Lovato, who is in a long-term relationship with the actor Wilmer Valderrama, deftly responded, “I didn’t say it didn’t stick, either.”
Demi Lovato Opens Up about New Music & Wilmer Valderrama in Cosmo Cover
The singer recently told Cosmopolitan her actor beau is far from the jealous type: “Nick [Jonas] and Wilmer get along great—Joe and Wilmer too. It’s weird. In the beginning, I was like, ‘Why the fuck are you friends with Joe?’ He was like, ‘He’s a cool guy.’ Yeah, I know. I dated him.”
Lovato also performed the song live on Chatty Man. Watch the video below.
