Demi Lovato decided to cool off on the day of her highly anticipated “Cool For The Summer” single release with a pool party — specifically, a Manhattan rooftop pool party with some of her most ardent supporters. On Wednesday afternoon (July 1), Lovato unveiled her new single “Cool For The Summer” at a fan event hosted by New York’s Z100 (WHTZ-FM), playing the song live for the first time and punctuating the poolside performance by leaping into the water. Watch the full performance replay here.
The event featured dozens of young female fans splashing around in a pool on the rooftop of the Gansevoort Park Avenue hotel, anxiously awaiting Lovato’s arrival as a DJ spun Top 40 tracks and tossing out Demi trivia questions. At 5:35 PM, the DJ dropped the piano melody that introduces “Cool For The Summer” and Lovato strutted poolside, wearing a ripped denim outfit, fishnet thigh-highs and black heels.

Lovato ripped through “Cool For The Summer” for the first time, belting out the uptempo track and removing her denim jacket during the song’s bridge. As soon as the song ended, Lovato cannonballed into the pool in front of her, causing the onlooking fans to shriek with delight and several to cry. Then: pool selfie time.

After a few minutes, Lovato was hoisted out of the pool, wrapped in a pink bathrobe and escorted out of the pool area. The fans in attendance quickly scattered as well, as a fan meet-and-greet inside was about to begin.
Lovato will host more fan events in different U.S. cities later this week, in celebration of the “Cool For The Summer” release. Produced by Max Martin and Wolf Cousins, the song precedes Lovato’s forthcoming fifth studio album.
