Ben Browning from Grammy-nominated indie band Cut Copy has released a new video for new solo track “I Concede,” a colorful montage interspersed with colorful animations and video effects created by Browning himself.
“I’ve been teaching myself 3D programs for a few years and these colorful light animations seemed to fit well with the footage I had,” Browning tells Billboard. “I wanted the keyboard solo section to take viewers into a fun sci-fi realm. In regards to my performance I liked the idea of remaining as still as possible whilst singing… then when you see any movements in the video, those movements somehow become significant.”
“I Concede” — is a breezy pop tune about knowing when one is in the wrong and admitting it —was released as a new single in December 2020. The song showcased a more intimate and serene direction than his previous work with tight drums, falsetto vocals and a sizzling synth solo.
Ben Browning is a multi-instrumentalist/producer hailing from Melbourne, Australia and now resides in San Francisco. He wrote and performed on Californian band Poolside’s latest album Low Tide and also created the stage visuals for Cut Copy’s Haiku from Zero’s international tour in 2017-18. His third solo album Until We Win will be released this spring on Browning’s own imprint, Kardinian Records.
