Ryan Tedder, producer and co-writer of Colbie Caillat’s “Hold On,” has called the new single a “game changer,” and with the song’s music video, the pop singer-songwriter continues to tread intriguing ground.
In the video, released today (Jan. 15), Caillat is surrounded by a group of dancers as they jive in front of a massive moonlit sky. The clip has an otherworldly feel, the 28-year-old emulating some sort of goddess as an interstellar backdrop spins behind her.
The song, Caillat’s second high-profile pairing with OneRepublic frontman Tedder following the success of 2011’s “Brighter Than the Sun,” finds the singer in slighter rhythmic-pop territory, complete with an earworm of a chorus.
It’s already shown legs in Caillat’s normal radio formats, peaking thus far at No. 15 on the Adult Pop Songs chart since its Nov. 19 release.
“Hold On” is the first single from Caillat’s upcoming fourth LP, which does not yet have a release date.
