Christina Aguilera has teased another new song from her upcoming album Liberation with a one-minute video on Twitter. Captioned “Where’s Maria?,” it features a snippet of gospel-leaning music and a brief meditation on her creative growth.
In a peaceful tableau of cherry blossoms, a voiceover from Aguilera details the inspiration behind Liberation, saying, “To me, the purest of reasons is to get back to that little girl who just wants to be inspired again — by truth, by that sense of passions for music and singing and just feeling free and alive again.” And with lyrics like “How am I supposed to face this lonely life I created?” overlain, it seems Liberation is going to be one of Aguilera’s deepest and most introspective works yet.
The teaser, which follows the release of the Kanye-produced single “Accelerate,” can be watched below. Read Billboard’s Aguilera cover story here.
