It’s been a bumpy ride to air so far for Apple Music’s long-promised Carpool Karaoke: The Series, but things finally showed signs of being on track Wednesday night (June 22) when creator James Corden provided a sneak peek at the anticipated spin-off on The Late Late Show. The preview featured Girls Trip co-stars Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith jamming in traffic to Prince‘s “Let’s Go Crazy.”
The pair slammed on the brakes as Latifah joked that maybe the series — which is currently slated to debut on Aug. 8 — should be called “Car Crash Pool Karaoke.” Joined by castmates Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish, Smith and Latifah pulled out the bullhorns and t-shirt cannons to encourage fellow drivers to go see the comedy, which opens July 21. And, of course, they sang a bit of Cyndi Lauper‘s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

The series is slated to feature rides with Will Smith, Shaquille O’Neal, Ariana Grande, John Cena, Billy Eichner, Metallica, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Seth MacFarlane, Chelsea Handler, Blake Shelton, Michael Strahan and Jeff Gordon. The series will feature 16 celebrity pairings riding along in a car as they sing their favorite songs. A host for the series has not been announced, but Corden isn’t expected to take the wheel.
