The long wait for new Carly Rae Jepsen music should soon be over. The Canadian pop singer has confirmed she’s been working on new material, and she’s ready to share the goods, starting with the single “I Really Like You.”
In a post on her Website, the “Call Me Maybe” singer said she’s been “hiding in forests where one meets and prince and dances till midnight. I’ve been cocooned in my Soho apartment, sipping tea with artists so weird and wonderful that only New York could keep them happy. I have been hiking to the tippy tops of L.A. peaks where I’ve said this out loud to no one…I’m ready.”
It’s been good long wait. “Call Me Maybe” was released back in late 2011. It went on to reach the summit of the Billboard Hot 100, and won her homeland’s Juno Award for song of the year. Her sophomore album Kiss (which included “Call Me Maybe”) dropped in 2012, the same year she received Billboard’s Rising Star award. She was kept busy last year playing the role of Ella in Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderellaon Broadway.
There’s no release date yet on the new single, though her manager Scooter Braun recently told Billboard it would arrive in March. He reckons it has “hit” written all over it. “Her new single is coming in March. I told her that she couldn’t come out with anything unless it was on the level of ‘Call Me Maybe.’ And, now we have a new one that is on that level,” he said.
