After five rounds of voting, there is finally a winner for Billboard’s 2020 Boy Band Battle!
With Super Junior and One Direction facing off in the final round, it was South Korean boy band Super Junior who emerged victorious. Prior to winning against One Direction, the group reigned supreme over — in order from the first round of voting to the semifinals — Aventura, the Jonas Brothers, Why Don’t We, and CNCO.
This isn’t the first time that Super Junior’s fans have elevated the group to the top. In October, the boy band was named the champ in Billboard’s Fan Army Face-Off after their fans — the E.L.F. (Ever Lasting Friends) — propelled them to No. 1. The victory was their second in the competition, with their first win coming in 2018.
Though One Direction ultimately finished this year’s Boy Band Battle in second place, they defeated some worthy competitors to make their way to the finals. They conquered — in order — Piso 21, then the Backstreet Boys, before moving on to BigBang, and finally, NCT 127.
So give a round of applause to Super Junior for their third win in a Billboard fan-voted competition! To see how the contest played out, explore the complete 2020 Boy Band Battle bracket to see how each of the boy band’s performed in the five rounds of voting.
