Billie Eilish got into the festive spirit for her The Holiday Edition radio special on Apple Music Friday (Dec. 11), where she shared all her favorite cozy Christmas tracks.
One artist who topped her holiday list was Frank Sinatra, and particularly his rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” “I really had to force myself not to make every single song in this playlist Frank Sinatra,” she laughed. “And even though I tried, let’s see how many are Frank Sinatra in here. Not too many, but more than any of the other ones. At first, I had like 20 as Frank Sinatra and like six as other people. Frank Sinatra is one of my all time favorite artists. He is just so legendary and unbeatable, I feel like, indescribable, all of the above, and his voice is just magic to me and always reminds me of Christmas.”
Speaking of legendary voices, Eilish also gushed over Eartha Kitt‘s “Santa Baby,” revealing that she prefers older holiday songs over newer ones. “I don’t really care for any new Christmas songs. Any of the more recent ones,” she admitted. “I don’t know what it is. I just really have a feeling of loving the classics, and the old ones. Not, I don’t know. It doesn’t really…I’m not opposed. For me, I just, if I’m having a Christmas dinner or whatever, even though we can’t have those this year, and I’m making a playlist, whatever, it’s always classics and old songs.”
“The lyrics are so perfect,” she continued. “I think it’s such a well said thing. I remember the first time he played it for me and I was like, that’s cute. Pay attention to the lyrics, in the first half especially. But the whole song, he is a genius lyricist.”
