Nickelback may be one of the world’s favorite bands to hate, but Avril Lavigne is not onboard.
On Thursday, the pop star took to Twitter to voice her disappointment in the press and public for shaming her husband Chad Kroeger’s group.
Avril Lavigne & Chad Kroeger Still Writing Music Together Post-Separation
Responding to an E! Online story reporting “People Actually Dislike One Thing More Than” Nickelback (in this instance it’s Donald Trump, by the way), Lavigne told the entertainment news outlet and anyone else cracking similar jokes to “grow up.”
Hey @ENews and everyone writing these articles…. grow up. https://t.co/KShskEcIFM this is extremely rude and uncalled for

Lavigne and Kroeger separated in September last year, but the two have recently been seen together, igniting rumors of a romance rekindled.
The “Sk8er Boi” singer continued, lauding Nickelback’s successes, which are pretty compelling. While Lavigne counts 17 No. 1 hits for the band, Nickelback has actually had 25 No. 1 hits total, counting all of Billboard’s U.S. and Canadian song and album charts.

On Billboard’s coveted Hot 100 chart, Nickelback has notched 19 entires, six of which have hit the top 10 — including the No. 1 “How You Remind Me,” which topped the 2002 year-end Hot 100. The band has charted nine albums on the Billboard 200, six of which have hit the top 10, including the 2005 No. 1 All the Right Reasons. Among its No. 1 sum, the act has also scored an impressive eight leaders on the Mainstream Rock Songs chart.
Nickelback has sold 24 million albums in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music. And according to a 2011 story — when the band was again defending itself against haters — the group’s label reported it had then sold more than 50 million albums worldwide.
So, maybe Lavigne has a point. Is Nickelback actually good?
