Ava Max paid a visit to NBC’s Today show on Friday (Jan. 25) to perform her hit single “Sweet But Psycho” and talk to Hoda Kotb and Carson Daly about the song’s success.
Max began her live performance of what Kotb called “an earworm of a song” wearing a red English-military jacket, jet-black leather pants and black platforms. Accompanied by zealous all-black-clad dancers, Max sported a half-and-half look with short hair on one side and long on the other side of her platinum-blond locks, while she belted the vocals to the catchy pop tune.
Before her performance, Max spoke to Kotb and Daly about her career so far. Daly asked how it feels to be leading Billboard‘s Emerging Artists chart (dated Jan. 26), to which Max responded that it’s a lot to deal with.
“It’s definitely overwhelming. I’ve been doing this for a long time, but it definitely doesn’t — since the song came out — like it doesn’t feel like that much of a long time anymore, it feels like it happened overnight, but it didn’t,” she smiled.
