Ariana Grande has had it with the way men objectify her and other women, and she’s taken to social media to make that known.
After going out to dinner with boyfriend Mac Miller Tuesday night (Dec. 27), Grande revealed on Twitter that they had an encounter with a Mac fan who ended up diminishing her while expressing his love for Miller.
“He was loud and excited and by the time M was seated in the drivers seat he was almost literally in the car with us,” Grande shared. “I thought all of this was cute and exciting until he said ‘ariana is sexy as hell man i see you, i see you hitting that!!!’”
Explaining that she has felt “quiet and hurt” since the incident, Grande made sure to declare that what happened to her is not acceptable and it’s moments like that that “contribute to women’s sense of fear and inadequacy.”
“This may not seem like a big deal to some of you but I feel sick and objectified,” she continued. “I am not a piece of meat that a man gets to utilize for his pleasure… I’m an adult human being in a relationship with a man who treats me with love and respect.”
Grande closed out her statement by encouraging fans to speak up if something like that happens to them, otherwise the objectification will just continue: “We are not objects or prizes. We are QUEENS.”
