On the one-week anniversary of her record-breaking “thank u, next” music video — which has spent three weeks (so far) at its No. 1 peak on the Billboard Hot 100 — Ariana Grande released a new batch of behind-the-scenes footage from her epic video.
In the new footage, director Hannah Lux Davis gives fans a tour of Grande’s dollhouse — the prop used in the 13 Going on 30-inspired segment of the video — revealing that each room is based on scenes that actually appear in the music video.
The behind-the-scenes video also has footage of the music video’s scene-stealer Toulouse, Grande’s dog, having a major diva moment as he lounges on a pool float for his role as Legally Blonde‘s Bruiser. Even Grande jokes that the pooch is “way more professional than anybody I’ve ever worked with.”
Grande’s sometimes self-deprecating sense of humor comes through in a behind-the-scenes clip that shows her flipping through the Mean Girls-inspired Burn Book. Grande’s twist on the movie’s catty Burn Book is that hers is filled with nothing but love for her exes, but that doesn’t make the breakup pain hurt any less. “Sure does make it easier, doesn’t it?” Grande sarcastically asks as she stares at a page with pictures of her exes Pete Davidson and Ricky Alvarez. “Nothing like a No. 1 to heal the broken wounds.”
The footage concludes with clips from the music video’s “Jingle Bell Rock” scene, including Kris Jenner’s hilarious cameo. As Jenner busts a move for the cameras, Kim Kardashian watches via FaceTime in disbelief, asking, “Is that my mom?!”
Grande was honored as Billboard‘s 2018 Woman of the Year at the Women in Music event at New York’s Pier 36 on Thursday night.
