In addition to inspiring countless memes and topping the Billboard Hot 100, Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” is now impacting our viewing habits. The epic video for the smash single – which paid hilarious homage to four of Grande’s favorite films – lead to a weekend spike in views for Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, 13 Going on 30 and Bring It On. You go Glenn Coco!
According to Amazon, streams for each of the films increased an average of 33 percent from Friday (Nov. 30) to Sunday (Dec. 2), as compared to the previous weekend. Not that you ever NEED an extra reason to watch any of these movies, but you might as well grab that lucky scrunchie and queue one of them up.
Hot on the heels of her video release, Grande will be honored as Woman of the Year at Billboard’s annual Women In Music event Thursday (Dec. 6) in New York City. She joins a number of icons who have been previously honored as Woman of the Year, including Selena Gomez, Madonna, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. The Women in Music event and red-carpet pre-show will broadcast live on Dec. 6 via Twitter from 7:00 to 10 p.m. ET.
