Ariana Grande is sticking closely to the source material for her “Thank U, Next” music video, but she’s outdone herself and brought back the love interest from one of the teen classics inspiring her latest production.
Images recreating pivotal scenes from Legally Blonde, Bring It On and now Mean Girls have flooded Grande’s social media accounts this week, with her donning Regina George’s blonde locks to play the villainess from the latter in the latest photos.
In Mean Girls, Regina steals away Aaron Samuels, the object of leading lady Cady’s affection. Samuels is portrayed by Jonathan Bennett (who fully embraced 2004’s aesthetic and its flat-ironed bangs for the part). Bennett’s all grown up now, so he left that haircut back in the last decade — but he did dust off his fake student I.D. to stroll the halls of Mean Girls‘ high school with Grande.

Bennett isn’t the only one bringing a cameo to the “Thank U, Next” set, as Jennifer Coolidge of Legally Blonde made an appearance in Grande’s teaser posts earlier this week. The single is burning up the Hot 100, and earned Grande her first No.1 when it debuted atop the chart on Nov. 12.
Check out Grande’s Mean Girls-inspired pic from the video set below, which features her and her fellow “Plastics” and Bennett in rom com dreamboat mode.
