It’s been a long wait since Ariana Grande‘s most recent album, 2016’s Dangerous Woman, but the wait is over: She released the new song “No Tears Left to Cry” first thing Friday.
“Tears” opens as a power ballad before shifting into pop-meets-R&B territory. Grande showcases her range as she belts out the line: “Right now I’m in a state of mind/ I wanna be in like all the time/ Ain’t got no tears left to cry/ So I’m pickin’ it up, I’m pickin’ up.” Of course, it’s filled with emotion.
The new song comes after Grande’s massive Dangerous Woman Tour, which was interrupted on May 22, 2017, by a terrorist bombing during her Manchester Arena concert.
Grande led the One Love Manchester concert in June, with proceeds benefiting victims of the attack via the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund. Since then, Grande has more or less laid low, but recently started dropping hints that AG4 is well underway.
