Grande tattooed her right hand following her appearance at the Women in Music event, where she performed “thank u, next” and delivered a touching speech. The singer showed off her new ink, a crescent moon next to a cluster of stars, on her Instagram later that night. While this is hardly Grande’s first tattoo, it’s definitely one of her largest and most obviously placed yet.
The body art is the work of Mira Mariah, the same tattoo artist who inked Grande’s worker bee tattoo to commemorate the city of Manchester and her Spirited Away-inspired ink. Mariah also tattooed Grande’s ex-fiancé Pete Davidson with a picture of their teacup pig Piggy Smallz.
And Ariana isn’t the only Grande family member who got a spontaneous tattoo last night: Her beloved 93-year-old Nonna got her first tattoo ever, and Grande documented the entire ordeal on her Instagram story. The footage shows Nonna remaining cool and collected as she gets a tattoo that reads “Ciccio,” short for Francesco, the name of her late husband, on the inside of her ring finger. When Grande asks if she’s all right, Nonna is completely unfazed and hilariously responds, “I’ve had a little bit more excitement than this.”
