Halsey recently stopped by the U.K.’s Capital FM, who tasked her with singing her song “Without Me” in the voice of several different fellow pop stars, including Ariana Grande, Cardi B and Justin Bieber. The show’s host Roman Kemp may not have guessed them all right away, but the “Nightmare” singer definitely deserved an A-plus for effort.
Watching Halsey attempt some impersonations got us thinking about all the other musical impressions out there. It can be a tricky talent, but the artists below seamlessly pulled it off and had the Internet hard-core fangirling.
Ariana Grande impersonates Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion & more
When we think of musical impressions, Grande is hands-down the first singer to come to mind. It seems like she can pretty much do an impression of anyone, with multiple videos of her skills floating around the Internet. She has also perfectly nailed the voice of Shakira, Rihanna and Whitney Houston (oh yeah, you bet she pulled off “I Will Always Love You”).
Halsey impersonates Ariana Grande, Cardi B, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga & Miley Cyrus
Of course, the impressions that inspired this list! Halsey did her best Ariana by adding in a few “yuhs” at the end of her lyrics, attempted rapping her lyrics for her Cardi impression, and even whipped out a move from A Star Is Born for Gaga.
Alicia Keys impersonates Gwen Stefani, Adele & Janis Joplin
It’s no secret that Keys is an excellent musician. She was able to take her vocal chops and use them for good when she was tasked with impersonating some of the most iconic musicians to this day. Joplin? Sure, some would be intimidated, but for this woman, it’s no problem.
Alessia Cara impersonates Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj & Lorde
OK, but can we talk about that Lorde impression? Cara came off as modest at first, but as soon as she whipped out the claw, it was all over. In addition to her perfect Lorde, she also nailed Minaj effortlessly — there was no way Fallon could even follow that.
Demi Lovato impersonates Cher, Fetty Wap & Christina Aguilera
Lovato is a diva vocalist who can pretty much sing anything, so who would’ve thought she’d be asked to do her best Fetty Wap? And better yet, who would’ve thought she would have completely smashed it?
Christina Aguilera impersonates Cher, Britney Spears & Shakira
Everyone’s impersonating Xtina, so it’s time for the legend to have a little fun of her own. Fallon asked her to do impressions of other famous singers she broke out into the spotlight with back in the day, including former foe Spears and, thankfully, it wasn’t awkward at all.
Celine Dion impersonates Cher, Rihanna & Sia
Another little gift, thanks to Fallon. The legendary vocalist was asked to do an impression of Cher, plus two modern-day superstars: Rihanna and Sia. The best part, though, was the dance moves she just insisted on whipping out for every single one (she even threw her hair over her face during Sia).
Adam Levine impersonates Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson & Eddie Vedder
Sometimes, you just don’t know you need a video of Adam Levine doing a Frank Sinatra impression until you get it. The Maroon 5 singer sounds just like the legend — and he most definitely made women all across the country fall head-over-heels in love.
Nicole Scherzinger impersonates Shakira, Alanis Morissette & Britney Spears
The former Pussycat Dolls singer stopped by The Real Daytime in 2017 to show off some of her hidden talents that no one knew about. She was incredibly shy and hesitant the entire time, saying her pants were too tight, but as soon as she broke out into song, all of that went away. Her Morissette impression was especially angsty and mind-blowing.
Nicki Minaj impersonates Beyoncé
When Minaj stopped by SNL in 2014, she took part in a scene called “MTV’s Jingle Ballerz: A Hip-Hop Nativity,” where she played the selfless, all-knowing Bey alongside Justin Bieber (played by Kate McKinnon), and it was hilarious.
