It’s good to have friends in high places. Production duo Social House prove that on their ghostly new single, “Haunt You,” which dropped on Friday morning (June 14) featuring spectral backing vocals from their pal Ariana Grande. The pair, Michael “Mikey” Foster and Charles “Scootie” Anderson — who are currently opening for Ari on her Sweetener World tour — get a return favor for producing the singer’s “thank u, next” and “7 Rings” courtesy of Grande’s subtle, sweet singing on the first taste of their upcoming EP.
“How do I measure up to heights you’ve been to/ How could I ever love you like you’re meant to/ How could a view of my skies/ Light your temple,” they sing over gentrly strummed acoustic guitars,” Anderson sings in a forlorn voice as Grande chimes in, repeating “haunt you, haunt you,” “call you, call you” and “want you, want you” on the chorus. The duo’s debut EP is due out on Aug. 2.
“For me, ‘Haunt You’ is about making the best of the time you have with loved ones regardless of the circumstances because time is something you’ll NEVER get back,” Anderson says in a statement, with Foster adding, “‘Haunt You’ is about appreciating the beauty in the things you love, even if they’re no longer yours.”
