Anne-Marie wants everyone to know that they’re nothing more than just her friend — even viewers of The Late Late Show with James Corden. The English singer-songwriter stopped by on Tuesday (May 1) to perform her Marshmello-produced single “Friends.”
Anne-Marie took a casual approach to her performance, first being spotted in the front row of the studio audience. She delivered her lyrics in a conversational manner, assuring the two male audience members on either side of her that their romance, frankly, wasn’t going anywhere. Anne-Marie then strutted into the stage spotlight, letting her bold vocals soar for the rest of the song. With sleek platinum hair and a plaid ensemble that could’ve come straight out of Cher Horowitz’s closet, Anne-Marie wasn’t upstaged by flashy decorations: all she needed was a backing band and her trademark sass.
“Friends” is the fifth single from Anne-Marie’s debut studio album, Speak Your Mind, which dropped April 27. She’ll be returning home this spring and summer supporting Ed Sheeran for the upcoming Europe leg of his Divide Tour.
