Amber Riley paid homage to her “favorite duet partner” Naya Rivera on Monday (July 13), when Rivera’s body was found in Lake Piru, Calif., by sharing a tear-jerking video of her and her four-year-old son Josey singing.
“My favorite duet partner. I love you. I miss you. I don’t have words right now, just lots of feelings. Rest In Peace Angel, and know that your family will never have to worry about anything,” the fellow Glee actress wrote on Instagram yesterday while sharing a video of the mother-son duo singing “Skidamarink.” In the clip, the two gleefully belt out the children’s tune, “I love you in the morning and in the afternoon. I love you in the evening and under the moon,” before Rivera asks her son for a kiss.
Riley and Rivera shared multiple spotlights together during their time on the Fox musical series when playing Mercedes Jones (Riley) and Santana Lopez (Rivera), most notably when the two performed “River Deep Mountain High” by Ike and Tina Turner and “Doo Wop (That Thing)” by Lauryn Hill. The show’s cast held hands at Lake Piru yesterday shortly before the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department confirmed it had recovered the 33-year-old star’s body in the lake after she went missing last Wednesday (July 8) while boating with her son.
“She mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself,” said Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub about Rivera’s last moments before she died.
