Alissia Benveniste is a funk newcomer with some serious skills and impressive co-signs; with new track “On The Go,” the bassist is making a late bid for offbeat summer anthem. Check out the official music video for “On The Go,” premiering on Billboard.com:
The former Berklee star collected over 1 million YouTube views with her song “Let It Out” in late 2013, and has since worked with Q-Tip and Emilio Castillo, all while leading a 14-piece band. With the fizzy “On The Go” video, which is set in New York City, the Boston live veteran hopes to break onto the national scene.
“My vision for my music is to inspire people and spread positivity by pairing authentic funk music with a twist of modern pop,” says Alissia. “In making the ‘On the Go’ video, the message was so important to me. The city of New York is the perfect example of always being ‘on the go,’ and the movement of the dancers helped bring the feeling to life.”
Alissia is preparing a debut EP, and has worked with John Blackwell, Jeffrey Lockhart and Mike Tucker on new music.
