London-based 22-year-old soul singer Nilüfer Yanya released the alt-rock single “Baby Luv” on Sept. 27 and now today (Nov. 7), six-piece London group ALASKALASKA is releasing a “Baby Luv” remix (ATO Records) where the track is transformed from grunge to synth-pop, a jolting beat replaced with a hypnotic one.
This is Yanya and ALASKALASKA’s first track together, though Yanya has long been a fan. “ALASKALASKA are one of my new fav[orite] bands and I love their take on this track,” Nilufer tells Billboard of the remix, premiered below. “Sounds like sparkles.”
Yanya made her debut a little over a year prior to “Baby Luv” with “Small Crimes” in September 2016. Since that debut, Yanya has accompanied the xx and Broken Social Scene on tour. On Nov. 14, she will bring her music to the U.S. for the first time at Mercury Lounge in New York City (Nov. 14) and The Masonic Lodge @ Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles (Nov. 16).
