Adele just released “Hello,” the first single off her upcoming third album 25, this morning — but apparently the heartbreak-themed anthem (and if history is anything to go by, album) didn’t come to the singer right away.

“I did write an album about being a mum but that’s pretty boring,” Adele told BBC 1’s Nick Grimshaw. “I scrapped that.”
The singer added that becoming a parent made writing the record extra challenging. “Getting into the headspace was really difficult,” she added. “Having such a break off, I kind of fell out of the habit of writing songs.”
