After setting records with her 25 album sales (her set has gripped the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart for its eight week and has surpassed 8 million copies sold in the U.S.), the Adele effect has extended to The Late Late Show with James Corden for a YouTube milestone.
According to Tubular Labs data, Adele’s driver seat rendition of Nicki Minaj‘s “Monster” and the Spice Girls “Wannabe” for Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” raked in 42 million views within the first five days. The video surpassed 68 million views as of press time, making it the most watched late-night YouTube clip ever.
Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” segment has been a runaway hit after landing A-list guests like Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder and Elton John. The “Justin Bieber Carpool Karaoke” clip also landed on YouTube’s list for top 10 trending videos of 2015.
