Alan Carr, host of the BBC chat show Chatty Man, announced back in January that he had quietly married his partner of 10 years, Paul Drayton, in Los Angeles. Now, Carr’s let a very big secret out about the nature of the wedding — it was funded, hosted and officiated by Adele.
This surprising tidbit was dropped last weekend during Carr’s appearance on The One Man Show, in which Carr joked, “I didn’t win a competition; Adele is a friend.”
He went on to describe the wedding, which took place in Adele’s Los Angeles garden backyard: “We’ve known her for ages, and when we told her we were getting married, she said, ‘Can I please plan the whole day for you?’ So she organized everything. She’s the kindest, sweetest, most generous person ever. We go in there and there’s a grand piano with a man playing [John Legend’s] ‘Ordinary People,’ and then she sang our songs with the first dance. It was absolutely amazing. I can never repay her. But she’s a one-off. As we all know, she’s just the best.”
As of today, the news is official. Adele confirmed her involvement in the wedding today with an Instagram post, joking “You know me any excuse to dress up…” and hashtagging it with #LoveisLove. Who’s excited and/or totally jealous about this quite unconventional wedding?
