5 Seconds of Summer will wind their way Down Under for a triumphant homecoming tour, though their fans will have to sit tight. The trek doesn’t start for nearly a year.
The Australian pop-punk outfit has announced a run that visits arenas in each of Australia’s big five cities in June 2015, and includes a single date in New Zealand.
The all-ages “Rock Out With Your Socks Out” shows will kick off June 18 at Auckland’s Vector Arena, before heading west for shows in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide and wrapping-up June 29 at Perth Arena.
5SOS is steaming hot right now. The Sydney quartet is currently on a global stadium tour as guests of One Direction. The band’s previous U.K. and U.S. dates sold out in less than five minutes, promoters Live Nation says, and a recently added U.K. arena tour for 2015 has now sold out.
The act’s debut self-titled Capitol/EMI set opened at No. 1 on the ARIA albums chart earlier this month, and its now gold-certified. The album has already generated six Australian top-50 chart hits, including the global smash “She Looks So Perfect,” which in March climbed to No. 1 in its fifth week on the ARIA chart.
“5 Seconds of Summer” is due July 22 in the U.S.
5SOS played theaters around Australia in May on its “There’s No Place Like Home” tour. The seven-date visit sold out in minutes. The band’s previous Australian tours were also sell-outs, reportedly crashing ticket sites in the process.
