The lilting, piano and snapping-backed melody of “Hello Tutorial” is buoyant in nature, with jazzy percussion bringing in a sense of playfulness. The song thrives on Zion.T’s soft, raspy tone, and is joined by Seulgi’s sweeter one as the pair sing about the act of falling in love.
The song’s music video matches its title, with the pair of artists directing a young couple’s romance through Inside Out-style internal control.
During a press conference in Seoul, Zion.T said that he was a fan of Red Velvet, going so far as to call himself a “ReVeluv,” the group’s fandom name. According to Yonhap, he said that he did “what I have to” as a fan to work with an artist he admires.
The single off of his newly-released Zzz EP, “Hello Tutorial” is one of three collaborative tracks on the album. On clap-back track “Malla Gang,” also known as “Skinny Kid,” which features the jarring query “I don’t know why you’re asking me how many burgers I can eat/I’m already fat enough,” he’s joined by straight-talking rapper E Sens, while on the snare-driven rhythmic track “Sleep Talk,” he’s assistesd by the mellow tone of Hyukoh’s lead singer Oh Hyuk.
One of South Korea’s most popular R&B artists, it’s been over a year since Zion. T released his Oo album early in 2017, which landed on the World Albums chart at No. 2. Zzz is his second album released under The Black Label, a subsidiary of YG Entertainment that the singer signed onto in 2016. This is Seulgi’s second high-profile collaboration in the last month; she recently teamed up with three other popular K-pop stars to release September’s “Wow Thing.”
