Zayn Malik dropped by Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show Monday (Apr. 16) to discuss his new music and forthcoming sophomore album.
Malik stayed tight-lipped about the album, but told Lowe that he’s “got the whole concept and everything done.” No official release date–or really any other information–has been revealed.
“I’m trying to keep it as mysterious as possible but there’s a plan with the roll out,” Malik said. “It’s going to be different to I think anything anyone has done before.”
“It’s going to be interesting to see how the audience reacts to this kind of release but I wanted to try something different. I think it’s all going to make sense in the end when the album finally drops,” Malik continued.
Malik says he’s “proud” of the finished record, which will feature the ethereal track, “Let Me.” The single, accompanied by a dramatic Miami-based music video, comes after a few since-deleted music teases on his Instagram page. “Let Me” also marked the first release since the former One Direction member’s split from model and longtime girlfriend Gigi Hadid.
