Yuna swung by Billboard’s New York studio to rap about her latest album “Nocturnal” (out now). She calls its creation “probably one of my favorite projects to work on. I’ve gone through so much. I’ve experienced a lot of things. I’m mature.“
And the content of the album reflects her sentiments. “Rescue,” which she performed with a guitarist by her side at Billboard’s studio, is about a woman that can stand on her own two feet.
“I wrote ‘Rescue’ based on my friends in the U.N. and the things that they went through, the Malaysia native says. “And how they were so strong and so inspiring. I wanted to send an empowering message to people. You have to be strong in this world.”
Yuna also performed “Escape,” a cut about jumping out of her comfort zone and into an adventure.
