NEW YORK (AP) – YouTube will announce Friday (July 22) that it will live stream two of the summer’s largest music festivals.
YouTube will present online coverage from both Chicago’s Lollapalooza and Texas’ Austin City Limits. The deal represents the Google Inc.-owned site’s continuing push to bring music festivals to digital screens.
In addition to a live stream of performances, there will be a secondary feed of the backstage areas and interviews.
Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell encourages music fans who can’t make it to the festival to “be a voyeur” on YouTube.
Lollapalooza, which takes place Aug. 5-7, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Austin City Limits, which runs Sept. 16-18, is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
