With yet another year drawing to a close, YouTube unveiled the 2019 edition of its annual Rewind series, counting down the platform’s most popular videos, songs, and creators. Naturally, “YouTube Rewind 2019: For the Record” features plenty of the musicians that defined the past 12 months.
The five and a half-minute video opens with Ariana Grande‘s “7 Rings” playing and soon jumps into a countdown of the year’s most liked creator videos (which includes SethEverman’s “How To Create Billie Eilish’s ‘Bad Guy'” at No. 6).
Next up, it’s most-liked music videos, featuring clips of 2019 sensations like Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus‘ “Old Town Road,” Blackpink‘s “Kill This Love,” BTS and Halsey‘s “Boy With Luv,” and Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello‘s “Señorita,” which came in at No. 1.
Here’s the full list:
1. Shawn Mendes, Camilla Cabello, “Señorita”
2. BTS, “Boy With Luv” feat. Halsey
3. Blackpink “Kill This Love”
4. Billie Eilish, “Bad Guy”
5. Lil Nas X, “Old Town Road” feat. Billy Ray Cyrus
6. Ariana Grande, “7 Rings”
7. Lil Dicky, “Earth”
8. Daddy Yankee & Snow, “Con Calma”
9. J-Hope, “Chicken Noodle Soup” (feat. Becky G)
10. T-Series, “Vaaste”
In its official post, YouTube notes that each lead artist was only able to appear on the list once, in order to include as much variety as possible. However, artists were allowed to appear solo if they were also included as part of a group (which is why you see J-Hope and BTS).
Other categories include the most liked dance videos, the most viewed video games, the most liked beauty videos, top breakout creators, and most viewed creators.
If you’re familiar with last year’s Rewind, you probably remember users banding together to make it the most disliked video in YouTube history (17 million thumbs down a year later). Will this year’s follow in its infamous footsteps? It’s gotten over 3 million dislikes a day since going live, so perhaps it’s already on its way.
